Replacing a bathtub with a walk-in shower using multilayer fittings

At rmmcia we present a video-tutorial with a practical application of multilayer fittings for replacing a bathtub with a walk-in shower. This small or significant change, depending on how you see it, requires a new tap location due to the difference in height and position.

To move the tap more easily, you only need a small circuit made of multilayer pipe (PEX-Al-PEX), which is the most convenient solution as it doesn't require capillary soldering or professional tools.

(with English subtitles)

To construct this new tap outlet, the following fittings can be used:

  1. 2 female-elbow multilayer fittings to connect each water supply (cold and hot) to the multilayer pipe.
  2. 4 elbow multilayer connectors: two for the wall turn and two more for the upward relocation.
  3. 2 female-elbow multilayer wall plate fittings for the tap outlet.

In any case, to deal with unforeseen situations, such as finding a galvanised steel threaded water supply in the real renovation shown in the video, there are other types of fittings available to complete the task without issues. At rmmcia, we offer all the options.

To see the complete renovation process covering all aspects (masonry, waterproofing, tiling, drainage, etc.), there are three explanatory videos produced by the Bricocrack team. These showcase the real-life transformation of a bathroom where a bathtub was replaced with a convenient walk-in shower.
